February 2 is traditionally the University’s Patron’s Day. On that day, K.U.Leuven confers honorary doctorates on persons of exceptional scientific, social or cultural merit. K.U.Leuven and UCL have decided to celebrate their Patron’s Feast together in 2009 and to jointly confer the distinctions. Four eminent persons will receive the title of doctor honoris causa from K.U.Leuven and UCL on 2 February 2009: Iranian illustrator Marjane Satrapi, Palestinian philosopher Prof Dr Sari Nusseibeh, Sudanese jurist Prof Dr Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na’im and Italian Jesuit Paolo Dall’Oglio. Join the ceremonies or watch it online on the same day.
The Library is traditionally closed on 2 February.
Candlemas is also known as Pancake Day in Belgium.
